reFABRICate Fashion Show

April 28, 2018

Join us in celebrating the launch of ReFABRICate, a new earth-friendly zero-waste clothing line made with scraps donated from the factory cutting floor at Arizona Fashion Source. Ellen Dayan from Tiger Lily Dress Shop and a handful of local designers have signed on to use their creative genius to make one-of-a-kind wearable art pieces using the cast-off scraps. Many thanks to AZ Fashion Source, Labelhorde, and Arizona Apparel Foundation for supporting the project with technical assistance, equipment and tools, and a space to meet and plan.

The reFABRICate Fashion Show is the culmination event of all the activities during AZ ECO Fashion Week. Local designers with a long-term commitment to earth-friendly and sustainable collections will be featured and celebrated. In addition, the designer/maker participants of the ReFABRICate Project sponsored by Arizona Apparel Foundation will also show creative work made almost entirely from scraps donated by Arizona Fashion Source's cutting floor.

Inspired by Zero Waste Daniel, an innovative designer in NYC, we decided to invite local designers who make earth-friendly wears to reduce textile waste in the apparel manufacturing industry for this project. As a team working together to accomplish these goals at FABRIC, we’re proud to launch ReFABRICate and lead the way in ethical manufacturing innovation in Arizona.

Please help us transform every last scrap into wearable art by purchasing one-of-a-kind clothing in the ReFABRICate project during Eco Fashion Week, 2018 at FABRIC. See the designs in the fashion show and shop during the events! Profits from the sale of ReFABRICate clothing go to the designers and to Arizona Apparel Foundation so they can offer more free classes and services to our local community of fashion business owners and enthusiasts.

The ReFABRICate designers include:

Astrid Olafsen from RunzWithScissors

Charlotte Wilkins from The COalition for Fashion

Sherry McKenna from Sherry J Designs

Ellen Dayan from Tiger Lily Dress Shop

Mayra Lopez from Mayume Designs

Angelina Martin from Anymystik

Dianna Voisin.

You’ll have an opportunity to meet these local designers at the ReFABRICate fashion show and see all their amazing creations!

Designers showing their own eco-friendly collections at the ReFABRICate show include:

Christy Fisher
Angela Johnson
Astrid Olafsen of Runzwithscissors
Laura Tanzer
Charlotte Wilkins of ThE COalition for Fashion
Sherry McKenna of Sherry J Designs
Julia Garina
